Dance and music have shaped Liza's life for as long as she can remember. Raised in a musical family, she began dancing at age three and trained across a range of styles throughout her childhood and teenage years. An elementary educator by profession, Liza brings a strong foundation in education and child development to every class she teaches. For more than 12 years, she has taught Zumba and dance fitness to women and children, later expanding into hip hop instruction for children and teens, always drawn to choreography that tells a story, using music and movement to build confidence, connection, and expression. The vision for Kesher became personal when Liza became a mother, wanting her two daughters to have a true dance home where they could train seriously, explore multiple styles, express themselves creatively, and grow as dancers without ever compromising their values. As she connected with other families, she realized they were searching for exactly the same thing. Drawing on more than a decade of experience in both dance and education, Liza founded Kesher Dance Studio to bring excellent instruction, meaningful connection, and joy together under one roof. Her hope for every dancer who walks through Kesher's doors is simple: that she feels she belongs, that she is challenged to grow, and that she discovers her own confidence, artistry, self-expression, and joy through dance.
THE WOMEN BEHIND THE MOVEMENT
KDS Team
Kayla brings a deep focus on technique to everything she teaches. A dancer, choreographer, and educator, Kayla holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University, where she developed extensive training in ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, acrobatics, and partnering. Her training has taken her further still, including study in Amsterdam, the SALT LINK Intensive, and the Nickerson-Rossi Apprenticeship Program, giving her a wide range of technique and movement experience to draw from. She has performed and choreographed in numerous productions, including presenting original work at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and holds certification in Acrobatic Arts. Kayla places a strong emphasis on technique and foundational strength, helping dancers build the control, coordination, and confidence that lasts far beyond any one routine. At Kesher, she brings that same technically grounded, versatile approach to every student she teaches.
Katie's ballet career has taken her from competition stages around the world to the professional stages of Israel, and now to Kesher. Originally from New Zealand, Katie began studying ballet at age seven at Phillipa Campbell School of Ballet, training and completing her exams through the Royal Academy of Dance. She went on to compete in major international ballet competitions, including YAGP, the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition, and the World Ballet Competition, earning multiple scholarships and grants for full-time training along the way. She continued her training on scholarship at Allegria Ballet School in Sydney, Australia, deepening her classical RAD foundation while excelling in Cecchetti technique and Spanish dance, a style woven through many of the great classical ballets. Katie went on to perform on stages around the world, touring the theaters of Israel as a dancer with the Israel Ballet Company and Ballet Ness Ziona, performing in productions including Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Don Quixote, and contemporary works. Now teaching in Baltimore, Katie brings that same global training and technical precision into every class at Kesher.

Chaya Bina Samuels believes dance is about far more than learning steps, it's a path to discipline, confidence, creativity, and connection. She trained in contemporary jazz for 15 years at Jimmy DeFore Dance Studio in California, building a strong foundation in technique, musicality, and performance, and has continued deepening her craft through advanced study at Towson University and Helen Hayes Dance Studio. Her choreography and performance work spans numerous musical and community theater productions, including Mary Poppins and the Simchas Esther production, and recently, her small group number earned first place at the Elevate Dance Competition in Silver Spring. Beyond dance, Chaya Bina brings years of experience teaching movement-based classes, giving her a deep understanding of body awareness, alignment, strength, and injury-conscious movement, insight that enriches every class she teaches. She is excited to help nurture the next generation of dancers at Kesher.
Malka has been dancing since she was a little girl, training in ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern, lyrical, and hip hop.
